About the picture

At Hornøya, around 15.000 pairs of common murres/common guillemots (lomvi in Norwegian) breed, and they prefer to sit tight next to eachother, as close as 40 individuals per square meter.

This picture was taken during spring 2024, when there was still snow on the island. This bridled common murre was standing nicely in the middle of the pack while observing me.
